Costa Rica

Overview

The trip was a success. Stay tuned for announcements of 2021 travel dates!

This journey to the Guanecaste Province of Costa Rica is all about the numbers:
  • 100+ foot waterfalls;
  • dozens of coatis;
  • hundreds of crocodiles;
  • thousands of whistling ducks;
  • countless glasses of fresh-squeezed fruit juice;
  • and so much more!

Immerse yourself in the astounding biodiversity of Palo Verde National Park through guided naturalist hikes, aquatic tractor rides surrounded by jabirus, boat tours through the croc-filled Rio Tempisque, and science lectures offered by expert park researchers.

Take a day trip to local Llanos de Cortez waterfall and summon the courage to jump off one before visiting the artisanal village named Falconiana for unique art and collectibles. See the impossibly blue waters of Tenorio Volcano National Park and Rio Celeste. Most important of all, spend an afternoon giving back to Palo Verde National Park by participating in a field station revitalization project identified by our partners.

Benefiting Nonprofit

Picture
The Friends of Jug Bay (FOJB or Friends) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that was formed in 1986 to support and promote Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. The team at fyrnweh journeys is thrilled to select the Friends of Jug Bay as the benefiting nonprofit on this trip. Proceeds from this trip will cover most if not all of the costs for Palo Verde National Park staff to visit Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary in Fall 2020 for a sanctuary exchange effort.
